Over the course of hours, a project design session can generate many project model variants. In turn, these project models can be simulated to forecast emergent cost, schedule and scope performance. The list of these project models is shown in Design Walk as a tradespace chart and table on the left.
On the right of the DesignWalk application is information about the model and simulation that has been selected and the left, and an area to show the changes in the project model, as compared to the model on which it was based.
The comparison feature is useful for double checking the expected model edits, and to review what changes lead to better or unexpected simulated outcomes.
When clicking the "Change Analysis" button, the prior "based-on" model ID and the currently selected ID are shown as "Models Compared". For example "8-> 35" indicates that the project model ID 8 was the starting point for creating project model 35. Any changes are shown in the Compare tables in the lower right. Project model elements (of the currently selected model) that were added, removed, or an attribute changed are shown.
By clicking the Changes Report button, it is possible to generate and export a spreadsheet workbook with all of the changes across the entire tradespace. This feature can take some time since all models are in turn loaded and compared to their prior versions.
